Saturday, October 28th Fall Service Day, 8:30 AM
We're having a planting and trail service day this week!
Join us this Saturday, October 28th, at 8:30-11:00 AM, at the Orem Cascade Drive Bonneville Shoreline Trailhead. (It's near the Orem Police Gun Range, roughly 1100 East Cascade Drive Orem.)
We'll be planting shrubs in the Timpanogos Wildlife Management Area, helping restore winter forage and erosion control in the area, which was damaged in the 2020 fire. If we have enough people, we'll also work on trail improvements. Volunteer hours also help count towards a matching grant that will provide professional trail work in the area!
As usual, closed-toe shoes, gloves, pants, and hats are recommended. Tools will be provided, though feel free to bring some of your own.

22 April 2023 We participated with Conserve Utah Valley for an Earth Day "Slate Canyon Saturday." Among the well over a hundred who came to the broader event, a great crew of 25 helped improve a nearby segment of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.
23 December 2022 Congress passed the Bonneville Shoreline Trail Advancement Act as a (small) part of its omnibus appropriations bill. Among other things, this will enable the "LPW" social trail in Alpine to be officially designated as part of the BST. Here's more details from the State of the BST project.
24 Sep 2022 We had a great turnout to our volunteer work project at Slate Canyon in Provo, where we were able to widen a short recently designated stretch of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail from a 1ft wide social trail to a 2-3ft wide multi-use trail. Thanks especially to Mary Ann and Mike Nielsen for making it happen, and to the many members of the Provo/Timpview mountain bike teams who helped us.
17 June 2022 Three of our board members represented UVTA at the Utah Trails Forum Conference in Cedar City. This was a great opportunity to learn how other areas are successfully building and improving trails, brainstorm on how to solve common challenges, and we got some great field training on trail design and construction.
5 May 2022 UVTA was awarded a Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant for $51,000 (matched by Utah DWR, Lindon, Pleasant Grove, OYCA, and several donors) to rehabilitate several of our recently designated trails in the Timp Foothills Area. These funds will help us hire professional trail builders to work on trail segments with major erosion issues. Part of our matching was a commitment to do as much volunteer work as possible, so watch for future work days. Also, congratulations to Santaquin, Springville, and Alpine who also received trail-building grants!
